World War II Coin & Stamp Collection

During World War II, nickel and copper were vital for America’s war effort. As a result, the U.S. Mint struck Jefferson Nickels in .350 Fine Silver from 1942-1945 (the only silver Nickels in history), as well as Lincoln Pennies in steel in 1943 (the only steel coin in history). In addition to these emergency coins, this collection includes the Mercury Dime, Washington Quarter, and Walking Liberty Half Dollar that were struck during the war years in .900 Fine Silver. The World War II Coins & Stamps collection is completed with official U.S. stamps that were issued in the war years to support America’s war effort.

The stamps are in original mint condition.

Pearl Harbor Tribute Coin & Stamp Set

This collection honors the memories of our fine servicemen and their families. It includes unique WWII emergency issue coins: the one-year-only 1943 Steel penny, the only Silver Nickels in U.S. coinage history (35% silver, 1942-45) and the Shellcase Penny (1944-46) struck from spent cartridge cases.

This tribute also includes a mint condition U.S. postage stamp issued in 1946, honoring FDR. The background graphics of your collection feature an actual WWII propaganda poster released in 1942 shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. “...We here highly resolve that those dead shall not have died in vain...” Remember Dec. 7th

D-Day Walking Liberty Half Dollar

D-Day (June 6, 1944) was a turning point of World War II. The Allied forces under Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower crossed the English Channel from England to France, surprising the Germans and forcing them into retreat. It was the greatest amphibious landing in history, with 4,000 ships and landing craft ferrying 150,000 men and their equipment. By July 1, about 1 million men had been landed in the American and British zones. From this point onwards, the Allies had the advantage in the war and pressed onwards towards the liberation of Paris in August and the fall of Nazi Germany – and the end of World War II in Europe – in 1945.

This Walking Liberty Silver Half Dollar was minted in 1944 and symbolizes the historic D-Day invasion.
