Abraham Lincoln Collection
Abraham Lincoln is renowned as one of the greatest of all presidents, and this collection is a magnificent tribute to his leadership and his impact on history. The Lincoln Penny was first minted in 1909 to honor the 100th anniversary of his birth. The 2003 Illinois State Quarter also features a portrait of Lincoln to celebrate one of the state’s most famous residents. The official Lincoln Presidential Medal was struck by the U.S. Mint to honor Lincoln’s term as 16th president of the United States from 1861-65. Lincoln is best remembered for the Gettysburg Address and Emancipation Proclamation. However, most of his presidency was occupied with the Civil War, which raged from 1861-65. On April 14, 1865 - only five days after the war ended and just weeks after his second inauguration - he was shot at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C. He died the next day. Golden Dollar Commemorative Cover

On February 15, 2007 at Manhattan’s Grand Central Station throngs of people on their morning commute were witnesses to the official ceremony by the U.S. Mint releasing into circulation the very first Presidential Golden Dollar. The coin’s obverse depicts a brand new forward-facing portrait of our nation’s first President, George Washington.

This original commemorative cover design includes a mint-fresh Golden Dollar coin, a vintage U.S. postage stamp issued in 1939 depicting Washington’s inauguration and the only other U.S. coin depicting Washington. The cover includes a current first-class stamp and postmark of February 15, 2007.
