War In The Sand

In the dawn of the morning, the sun always rises to shine
In clouds of glorious red, with the ships all out at sea, in a line.
Raising their flags proudly, masts standing way up high.
It made my heart beat a little faster, looking toward the sky.

I am proud of our Armies, and all our Sailors of blue,
Marine, and Air, force, Captains, Sergeants and PFC’s too.
It takes them all to win a war, and with Gods’ hand they surely will.
They are keeping our country, the USA safe, still.

In WWII we’d sit around the fireplace, or a wood heater it might be,
Listening to the news of our guys, when they were over seas.
Maybe some of you are in enemy land now, in a dugout, willing to die,
For the country and people you love, all without a sigh.

You are the heroes of our country; you should be honored there.
Some have gone, and fought, and many died; they fought with cheer.
I know at times morale had to be low, and none could force a smile.
I suspect they would read mail from home, and Pray to God for a while.

I watch the lovely sunset each evening, outside my window clear,
Praying for all the loved ones, most times with a tear.
I know you all have to come back; somehow ... else what would we all do?
Most came back long ago, in my family, I Pray yours will too.
