War holds terrible hatred,
But it has an important cause,
To win love peace and freedom,
To live by certain laws.
United together we stand,
Living in the respected states,
You choose to serve your land,
You helped make history's dates.
The things you saw,
The memories you gained,
They are like a giant wall,
Full of emotion and pain.
How did you get through it?
Or did you get through it at all?
Is it trapped inside of you?
Can you get over that wall?
Was it hard leaving your family?
Kissing them goodbye?
Not knowing if you would come back?
Not knowing if you would die?
Achieving our country's goals,
You had true determination,
To fight for what you wanted,
A free and peaceful nation.
The courage you had,
To fight for so long,
Will always be remembered,
For you made America strong.
Now, it is the present,
Gone is the past,
Is war still inside of you?
