War and Tragedy

Tell Me Where You Werecountry as flag - small
Tell me where you were
the day the towers fell.
Tell me if you, too
saw a tiny flash of hell.

Tell me where you were
as we felt the city quake.
When we thought it was an accident
a tragic, freak mistake.

Tell me where you were
when the second plane attacked.
When an overpopulated island
was rocked by fierce impact.

Tell me where you were
when the Pentagon was struck.
Were you trying to keep it straight
as reporters waded through this muck?

Tell me where you were
when the bravest in the sky
sacrificed themselves
so many others didn't die.

Tell me where you were
when you heard the awful news,
that a shady organization
decided to claim some Western dues.

Tell me where you were
while they were calling to say good-bye
Have you heard those conversations?
Did they make you cry?

Tell me how you feel
now that five years have flown away.
Can you still feel the terror
like it was yesterday?

Have you forgotten?
Have you moved on?
Or do you still remember
that planes make great bombs?

Do you feel safe
or do you feel lost
Did you think that Democracy
came at no cost?

I ask you these questions
though I don't sit up above.
I'm just proud of my Countrymen
and the land that I love.

At the end of the day
those fools forgot just one thing,
my country is strong
when we let freedom ring.

We came together
and did what we could.
United to help
as all brothers should.

Our arrogance gone-
Yes, it could happen right here.
But the terrorists can't win
if we show them no fear!
