Tears of Gratitude

All gave some and some gave all,
I felt the loss, the day I cried at the wall.

Far too many and so young, far away and alone,
Some of us will never forget the one's who didn't come home.

To those that have been back for decades,
but your tour of duty, you find no end,
I thank you for my freedom, I'm honored to call you friend.

From the most decorated of the highest rank, to the private,
the nurses and medics, and all who took heed to the call.
I said a silent prayer for you, the day I cried at the wall.

There's those that say our forces shouldn't be there, that they
should leave certain issues alone,
I wonder, would they feel the same
if the enemy invaded and took their home?

Maybe they don't think their freedom is worth it, but those
brave men and women knew. The ones who paid the ultimate price
to give all I know they did, I felt it the day I cried at the wall.

I stared at our nation's capital and wondered would it ever fall?
Then I looked back at all the names who died for our freedom,
the day I cried at the wall.

Some gave all and all gave some . . . heroes everyone.

I have never forgotten and never will. I am grateful and thank you all,
I will always remember, especially now, the day I cried at the wall.

For all veterans, POW, MIA, KIA, and active military and reserves.
