Fallen Soldier

USA as Flag

They answered the call to duty,
asked nothing in return.
They went to fight for freedom
with hopes of what we would learn.

In the ensuing battle having
performed his heroic deed,
he was suddenly felled by the enemy
and now could no longer lead.
He said to his next in command
"It's now up to you,
remember that many are
counting on just a very few."

Freedom is forever if we
are willing to fight
being always vigilant
every day and every night.
