War's Dark Night

Terrible the thought of war
that father with blinding tears
tears his heart from memories years
when word of death in far away fields
comes to him with grief unhealed.

Now father need bury the son
Bury naught but his own life done
Never again to be undone.
Hope forlorn a father's son.
