Take My Hand

Some soldiers wounds will never heal,
For their spirits died on a battlefield.
All gave some and some gave all,
For those who live, a grim recall.

Of Brothers gone, some left behind,
Each name and face etched in their minds.
Some scars we see, some are hidden,
Each bear guilt and some quit living.

Some speak softly, some even cry,
For Brothers lost, no last goodbye.
Others rage, a breath away,
Demons fought, for death they pray.

Normal is no longer heard,
For most it's just another word.
Defined by youth when children played,
Before the war took innocence away.

Some can smile through teeth-clenched pain,
Their days and nights are cold, dark rain.
With love and patience, some find hope.
Through faith in God, they learn to cope.

Some reach out, to others ask,
"Help me Brother, forgive my past.
Secrets buried in my soul,
Horrors borne so long ago."

"Take my hand, lean on me,
I've walked your path and I believe,
God loves us all, He shares our burden,
You're not alone, you are my Brother."
