| The Soldiers |
| The smell of blood and sulphur The air is thick with smoke The soldiers groan with agony This conflict is no joke
Bodies litter the road and field A lonesome hawk cries The U.S. soldiers are always watched By the enemy's despicable eyes
The tanks are rolling through the lane Like slow, lumbering cattle The soldiers, they are nervous As they trudge into their battle
The fighters have been scrambled They soar across the sky The soldiers must be brave For they know that they must die
This war must be concluded There must be some sort of boon The soldiers must be hopeful I pray they get home soon | Jordan 10th Grade Copyright 2006 Listed 11/14/2006Poem "recognized for creative excellence" by School District of Lee County, Ft. Myers, FL |
