Souls of Warcountry as flag - small
In dead of night, awake I laid
No light could make the darkness fade
From my mind as I turned and tossed
Because I could hear those voices, lost.
There was no rest or peace within,
Like the silken strands the spiders spin
I was haunted by the threads of time,
Looping swiftly across my mind.

No comfort found in man could light
Nor ease the sorrow of this night.
Heroes called; their ghastly sound
Filled the blackened room around.
They spoke of battles lost and won,
The clash of war and report of gun.
They spoke, in chilling words, of death
Their sadness heavy in each breath.

“We are the silent souls of war
Our voices the world will hear no more.
Yet grieve we not, for deeds or fame
We stood, as one, in freedom's name
And all we plea of you, we tell,
To stand for that for which we fell.
We stood for ‘right’ and ‘truth’ but you
Have forgotten what we had to do.”

“Our lives were lost, yet freedom gained
The ground of liberty, torn and stained,
With the sweat and blood of noble men
Was captured, slowly, once again.
And people saw the darkness lift
But forgotten quickly was that gift.
We fear our lives were spent in vain
And that tyranny will rule again
And that the land of freedom soon will fall
Because none will stand to heed her call.”

Let it be then, as freedom’s friend,
We will never break nor bend!
If honor still exists, let’s stand
To protect our wives’ and sweethearts’ land!
The Eagle’s wing will never fail
If the noble cry of truth prevail
In the souls of those who live to be
Truly “Sons of Liberty”!
