Sacrifice |
| "See the world; join the Army," they said. But here he is with a rock for his bed… Half his friends either injured or dead.
He lies on his back staring up at the sky Thinking to himself he will surely die…
Just five more days to be pulled off the line, Maybe go back home-good food, fine wine.
Then he came back-back to his home, Surrounded by friends but still all alone.
The war would never go away he thought Thinking of all the battles he'd fought.
He was glad to be back-back to his home, Where his only fear was where his mind would roam;
He'd try to fit in as best as he could Filled with fear, yet rigid he stood. | Michael 8th Grade Copyright 2006 Listed 11/14/2006Poem "recognized for creative excellence" by School District of Lee County, Ft. Myers, FL |
