Band of Brothers

We've seen the movie, know too well,
How our Soldiers walk through hell.
A 'Band of Brothers', our Country's best,
Called to war for Freedom's Quest.

I know two men, who like the others,
Give new meaning to "Band of Brothers."
Jacob watched as Josh made plans,
He placed his fate in God's Mighty Hands.

Our family watched, told Josh goodbye,
A distant look filled Jacob's eyes.
His thoughts were filled with yesterdays,
Where brothers fought and war games played.

Jacob's mind traversed through time,
Endless days and summer nights.
A gentle hug, his brother's voice,
Helped him see he'd made his choice.

"Brother, fight and you be strong,
Know I'll join you, it won't be long.
You go ahead and pave the way,
For Freedom's Voice, this we'll pray.

Know this, Josh, it wasn't you,
That moved me on to what I must do.
Our parents taught us to be a man,
Make our choices, take a stand."

The wings of steel now idly wait,
For, Jacob now walks through that gate.
We hug, we cry, we say goodbye,
Our hearts are sad, yet full of pride.

Jacob turns, "In faith believe."
For just a moment, it's Josh we see.
"I love you all, and this I've discovered,
There's no stronger bond than a Band of Brothers."
