| A Soldier's Thoughts |
| I'm watching and waiting Anticipating Looking out at the frontline The enemy is approaching the battle line With bayonet out at the ready Trying to keep my breath real steady Then I heard a loud battle yell After that I entered hell For all I know there's no coming back Then I stabbed an enemy in the back Trying to get back on the path I am forced to walk through the blood bath Then I hear enemy ahead I swung up my Thompson and now their dead Then I trot up a steep hill To try and spot my next fresh kill I see none alive ahead So back down the hill I tread The battles over and their flags are ours I look up that night and see the stars The next morning we burn their flags Then we go out and collect allied tags | Alan-Michael Simmons 10th Grade Copyright 2007 Listed 02/08/2007 |
