Today I stand in front of my
class
as they listen to what I say.
I'm five years old and lost in thought,
for today is his shining day.
I stand tall and then I speak,
my eyes set very wide.
I hold his picture so close, so close,
directly by my side.
My eyes grow wet;
a tear rolls down.
My hands are shaking;
my heart keeps racing.
Although I am weeping,
I look up and smile.
My heart grows strong;
I feel no denial.
I respect ... all that serve our
country,
yet I am sad
I positively know
how deep my love and how much I'll miss
my dad. |
