| My Hero, My Brother | |
| As children we played hide and seek, climbed trees and raced our bikes.
We watched cartoons on Saturdays and had our share of fights.
As big sister I would read to you about the "Monster at the End of this Book"
And we still laugh about the time Staci's coat got stuck.
The person I am is much defined by times that we all shared.
When you joined the Marines I think we got mad mostly because we were scared.
Many years have passed and we've been lucky that you've stayed safe here in the states.
But now the word is you must go, the Iraqi war awaits.
So I play brave and you play brave and neither of us cries.
And I beg you to please come safely home and say I love you and goodbye. | By Stephani Johns-Hines Copyright 2004 |
