| Uncle Sam Red |
|
| I watched one day as a flag was raised New and bright and crisp The wind blowing just enough To unfurl it in the morning brisk
I thought back to all who have died for this great country Black, white, red, yellow They were all my brothers They were all hero’s to me And they all had mothers
There were men and women From all walks of life Some with strange ways But all burned inside with patriotism So all were my family Even in those strange days
When I looked upon that new flag It reminded me of one thing Although they were all different They bled Uncle Sam red And now they are all dead
But they left me with a legacy For now I see no color I see no more differences I only see the color red Of my friends that are dead. | By Steven J. Newton Copyright 2004 http://steven.newton1.home.att.net/ |
