The Flag Speaks Out | |
|
I am the United States Flag, the symbol of many things..
I am whatever you make me, nothing more, nothing less..
I am the promise of a Nation, a mothers dream, a
child's desire.. I am your belief in your future, your hope
for your family.. I am the Flag of many races..
I am the sweat of a hard day's labor, the thought of a brain,
the pain of decision.. I am the Constitution and the statues,
the courts and the Legislatures, the voting booth, and
the soldier, the street sweeper, and the executive..
I am compelling reason, a new idea, definition of purpose..
I am the earth and the sky and sea.. I am wind and rain
and sun.. I am the right to work and own.. The right to play,
and the right to pray.. I am whatever you make me..
Nothing more, nothing less. | By John Leroy Maxwell
