| Our Nation's Liberty |
|
| Some people take for granted Our nation's liberty, Because they never paid the price, Nor fought for victory.
Some people haven't earned the right To be a citizen, Nor paid for battles of the past, Nor shared the race that's run.
I think that it's in sharing, That we begin to care. I think that it's in doing, That we become aware.
I think that it's in losing, That we desire to win, I think that it's in climbing, That we see where we've been.
I think that it's in sorrow, That we are made to see How much we really paid for This land of liberty.
Oh do not take for granted Our nation's liberty, Or we will have to pay the price To once again be free. | By James H. Lee Jr. Copyright 1980 |
