| I Saw The Flag | |
| Today I saw them patiently waiting for help. With nothing but the clothes on their back. They had fled the floodwaters of Hurricane Katrina. And came to our state for relief. To my amazement what should I see there in the breeze? But the only possession they held dear to their heart. It was the American flag and they had put it up. This said a lot to me. These people, native Americans, in the land of the free. That chose to save the flag to wave in the breeze. Can we do no less to honor them for love? Sure there are those that protest the war, and criticize us from afar. But these people who had nothing else left still waved the flag. Can we fail to honor that patriotism that did not lag? Not this American, not on this day or any other day. This, the flag, that waved proudly and paved their way. | By Judy Lloyd Copyright 2005 http://www.authorsden.com/judytlloyd Listed 09/29/2005 |
