2009 -- The Homes for Our Troops Build Brigade raises a wall in Plymouth, MA for Sgt. Brian Fountaine. The Build Brigade is an all volunteer group working in a 3 day period to build the frame of the house, side and roof the house, and install windows and doors so that interior work can begin. The build is sponsored primarily by donations and volunteer hours in order to provide a specially adapted home to the injured veteran. The house, slated to be completed in four to six months, being built the non-profit organization Homes for Our Troops for Petty Officer 2nd Class Anthony Thompson, a hospital corpsman formerly with 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, stands two days into the three-day 'Build Brigade' project Jan. 8, 2010 in Houston. Thompson was seriously wounded by a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device during his second deployment to Iraq in 2007 with 2nd Bn., 7th Marines. Homes for Our Troops focuses on building specialized homes for seriously injured veterans at no cost to the veterans and their families. Retired Cpl. Joshua Lindsey and his fiancée, Tracey Froebel, pause for some pictures before entering their new house north of Atlanta, June 26. Lindsey was severely injured after he was shot while on a patrol with his battalion in Iraq, in February of 2005. Homes for Our Troops, a non-profit organization, provided the home at no cost to Lindsey thanks to the work and materials donated from corporate sponsors, tradesmen, foundation grants and other local volunteers.
