Kandahar, Afghanistan (April 15, 2008) -- Marines from 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit , International Security Assistance Force , NATO, conduct a training exercise that requires them to meet and earn the trust of the local population. This exercise will better prepare the Marines while they conduct operations in support of NATO.

The battleship USS Missouri Memorial is illuminated in red, white and blue for the 23rd annual Hawaii Military Appreciation Month opening ceremony, April 24, 2008. The ceremony kicked off a month-long celebration to express appreciation and "mahalo" to Hawaii's servicemembers for their everyday sacrifices here and abroad.

Aaron Cheerman of Manchester, CT was given the Marine Corps League’s Highest Honor - the Marine of the Year Award. On his left is his wife of 43 years, Sylvia. To the right is Major General James Williams, the Commanding General of all Marine Reserve units of the 4th Marine Division, which is now engaged in the war on terrorism. Major General Williams flew in from his Headquarters in New Orleans to attend the ceremony and serve as guest speaker.
