"Butterfly Tree" project by school children honoring fallen soldiers   Butterfly Tree

A tribute project to honor soldiers lost in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom has been started involving children from kindergarten to high school  across the United States (over 20 states).

"Butterfly Tree" includes a 4 inch red, white, and blue butterfly created for each fallen soldier with name, age, and rank on it.

And there are already over 4,400 butterflies on it.

The “Butterfly Tree” tribute project has a motto showing the importance of each soldier that has been lost. This motto is on a four-foot sign and reads...

“The life of a butterfly is short but itsi mpact on the world cannot be measured”.

The Butterfly Tree measures over 8 feet tall, is in two sections and on wheels so that it can be transported for display. It also includes 4, four foot pieces of fencing and an assortment of red, white and blue flowers.

The National Education Association supports the "Butterfly Tree" project.  You can learn more about the "Butterfly Tree" project at Kids Thank a Veteran.
