"This song, "21 Guns", was first
written as a poem by my friend Alan Gragg from Lenoir,
NC. He was inspired by watching news footage from a
soldiers funeral on CNN. I took it and changed some
words, wrote some music, and created the melody."Bobby Billings

As they lay him down to rest,

Lord he didn’t want to go,
But duty called,
