Our son, Major Brian Polk received the Bronze Star Medal for his meritorious duty in the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Major Polk is a RN who served with the 21st Combat Support Hospital. During his tour, he directed convoy perimeter security when one of the medical supply trucks got stuck in the sand during a nearby fire fight in the early stages of the war.

Later, Major Polk was the head nurse for a ward in the Combat Hospital specifically for wounded Iraqi soldiers. Major Polk participated in the toys for kids program to provide toys for Iraqi children in the local Balad hospital.
